Horseback Beach Ride and Dunn's River |
Looking for some adventure? Come travel along the scenic Ocho Rios coastline to the world famous Dunn's River falls, where you may climb or view this spectacular 600 feet waterfall. You have probably heard of this popular tourist attraction. Over decades Dunn's River Falls has offered millions of explorers an instant connection to nature and has challenged and fascinated families for generations.
For those who do not want to climb, but prefer a less adventurous experience, the beautiful impressive sights and views of the falls alone are worth it. These visitors may view the action from the adjacent stairways and the beautiful surroundings all to the sounds of gushing water on the falls. Dunn's River Falls and park consist of a beach with water sports activities, a Craft Market, picnic areas and Food Court, but the main activity is climbing the Falls - which is a fun group activity!
Dunn's River Falls and Park requires that you wear (Aquamarine) water shoes to make this wet but easily navigable climb. If you don’t bring your own they can be rented or purchased on property. Remember to take along your water proof cameras to get shots of your favorite moments while doing this adventure.
Next your guide will take you on a 15 minute ride along the scenic north coast to our stables, we guarantee that you will enjoy our beach horseback ride. Its the best on the island, this ride combines history with fun and is the only one of its kind in Jamaica.
Experience riding through the countryside and then going down to the beach for a ride in the ocean. Your tour starts with a visit to the Seville Great House Museum, which houses a wealth of artifacts from past civilizations found on this fascinating property.
Then its time to mount up on your horse and visit all the places that we have learnt about, riding by castles and sugar factories dating back nearly 500 years. Ride through wooded areas, where the Taino Indians used to hunt for food. Learn about the culture of these first Islanders, their beliefs, habits and existence, before Columbus landed and the island was colonized under the Spanish flag. Ride through a natural wetland, shaded by almond and coconut trees, and see the excavations carried out by archaeologists, keen to uncover the deep rooted history of this area.
On arrival at the beach, refreshments are served in our jungle beach hut, before we strip down to our bathing suits, for a dash through the waves on horseback. For your safety, we keep the saddles on, so you don’t have to worry about staying on!!! Our return ride takes you along the deserted beach, where herons and other water birds fish in the shallow waters. Through the mangroves, which hide the remains of an eighteenth century warehouse, and by an ancient waterwheel which powered the old sugar mill on this former sugar plantation.
A history lesson and beach ride in one. After you are finished riding, you will meet your driver at the back of the Great house. He will then take you back to Ocho Rios for some last minute shopping at the Island Village shopping centre before you return to your cruise ship.
